I am so glad to see that the museum is still going strong. I was born in patten and lived there until I was 5. Well we really lived in Mt Chase on the owlsborough Rd; my grandparents were William "Billy" and Ida Campbell and my parents were Lauren and "Mike" Campbell. Before you had the museum the original works were in the town library( the church on main street). It was my favorite place to go.Just the wonder of watching the mills work and to see the figurines all done by hand.

My brother and I had a wonderful visit to the Museum 26th July. We are descendants of one Alvah Tibbetts who may well have been one of the Maine lumbermen between 1820 and 1845. So, we tried to experience how he must have survived in an occupation involving incredible hardships. Thanks to all at the Museum who are working towards maintaining our memories of these forebears.

My great-grandfather Caleb Scribner is co-founder of Lumbermans Museum. I have only been to Patten a few times. To go to my grandfather Archer Scribners home across from the post office, when I was very young, and visit the cemetery where many of my relatives are buried. I hope to visit the Museum, and see the paintings displayed that Caleb did, I have 1 in my home titled "Katahdin Falls". Thank you for this site, I just wish I could find more information on Caleb Scribner.

Enjoyed all pictures and especially the ones of Ed Kennedy's woods crew as he is my great grandfather. In the picture is my grandfather and his brother George and several Bates relatives.

My grandfather, Otis Fogg, is on the far right, first row, of the famous large-group photo of the Maine woodsmen from around Island Falls (the one where you can see a tea cup on one guy's head). This photo hangs in our house here in Ohio. My grandfather, who passed away in Rockland in 1990 (90 years old), had fond memories of his time in the woods. He could still remember some of the songs the French laborers would sing, even late in his life. Thanks for preserving this part of Maine history.

I loved visiting the museum when I lived up there. The old photos of workin in the woods that you have for free viewing and for sale are great.

:)Thank you for displaying a picture of my father, Ray Tozier and his team of horses at the museum. His life in the woods has always been a source of pride for our family. We will be making a visit soon with his grandchildren and great grandchildren so they can see first hand the history of logging that their grandfather was a part of.

I just wanted to let you know that this site will be AMAZING. The Lumberman's Museum has always been a great place and with all the renovations to the reception hall more people will be able to enjoy it. Job Well Done!
